Lessons From The Rich

I used to want to be rich. Beautiful houses around the world, no need to work. All of it.

I thought money would fix things, and in some ways, it does.

People treat you better when they think you have money. They act warmer. More polite.

But not because they care. The more progress I make in my career, the more people become kinder and more helpful.

But I haven’t changed. Humans are social creatures who react not just to personalities, but to status.

But the more status others think you have, the less authentic their actions become. You stop knowing who’s a friend and who just wants something. You can’t tell who’s being kind and who’s keeping score.

If your success vanished, would they? Wealth turns some people cold. Not just the rich, but those close to them, too.

People near money start acting like they’re above you. But it’s just a trick. Money is made up.

A good title or a full wallet can get you through doors, but it blinds you to who’s holding them open.

The Best Of Both Worlds

Should you become wealthy, stay quiet. Don’t flash it. Don’t chase attention.

If no one knows you’re doing well, you’ll see who stays close. That’s the real test.

Most people want money for freedom, but in showing it off, they build a cage around themselves.

So ask yourself: if no one ever saw your wins, would they still feel worth it?

If yes, good.

If no, maybe it’s not wealth you’re chasing.

3 THINGS IN…

Habits

#1 Hydrate Before You Caffeinate

Overnight, your body dehydrates, and drinking about 400 – 500 ml of water first thing rehydrates your body, sharpens focus, and improves digestion within minutes.

Keep a glass of water next to your bed and sip immediately upon waking. Bonus points if you wait 60–90 minutes before your morning coffee (to let cortisol levels stabilise).

#2 Work with Your Body Clock

Your body runs on a natural 90-minute performance cycle. With 60 minutes of higher energy, followed by 30 minutes of lower energy. When you push into a lower energy phase, focus drops, and decision fatigue sets in.

Try focused work for 60 minutes followed by 30 minutes of rest aligns with this ultradian cycle, boosting energy, creativity, and clarity without burning out.

#3 Sleep Like You Mean It

Going to bed and waking up at the same time (even on weekends) keeps your circadian rhythm dialled in, improving energy, memory, and willpower.

Try waking up within 30 minutes of the same time every day to sleep more deeply, and have more energy during the day

Wisdom or Wires

#1 “Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants.”

~ Epictetus

#2 “You only find out who you are once people have nothing to gain from you.”

~ Mark Manson
