1 THING IN…

Wisdom

“You have power over your mind—not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength. If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.”

~ Marcus Aurelius

7 Harsh Truths for Ambitious People

I wasted much of my twenties instead of building. Waiting for the right moment or the perfect plan.

Below are 7 truths I wish I had heard earlier. Maybe they’ll save you time.

1. You’re not lazy. You’re just tired.
I thought I had low drive. Turns out I was sleep-deprived, eating junk, and barely moving. Once I fixed the basics (e.g. sleep, food, movement), my energy came back. Work with your body and it will reward you.

2. No one remembers your awkward moment.
That embarrassing mistake you keep replaying? Nobody else cares. The spotlight effect is real, and people are stuck in their own heads, just like you.

3. Good enough beats perfect.
“Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.“ Waiting for the perfect time or plan will lead to you falling behind others who started early and messily. You don’t need the full picture. Just start and learn as you go.

4. What you avoid is what you need to do.
The thing that you're avoiding, whether that’s a task, a conversation or a decision, that’s the thing holding you back. Every time I faced what I avoided, I moved forward. The pain of regret is greater than the pain of discipline.

5. Saying yes to everyone means saying no to yourself.
Born a people pleaser, I kept people happy and made myself miserable. I gave up my time, focus, and energy. Learn to say no because you can’t build anything when you’re always available for others.

6. Fear fades when you act.
The thing you’re scared of doing gets worse the longer you wait. Once you make your move, it looks smaller from your new perspective. Action clears your head.

7. Patience wins.
In a world full of instant gratification, patience is rare. The person willing to wait and work consistently has an unfair advantage. Compound growth works in every area of life. Stick to the basics.
